Spirits have been known to drain energy or create negative emotions when contacted. Sometimes, it’s a side effect of its manifestation. At other times, it’s done on purpose. You can protect yourself through your religious belief system. After the jump, you can use these protection prayers if you are Catholic.
The Prayer of Saint Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares
of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host –
by the Divine Power of God –
cast into Hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Saint Ignatius of Loyola also wrote a protection prayer for use:
The Prayer for Trust in Jesus
O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.
If you’re Christian, but not Catholic, here’s a more general prayer to use:
Prayer for Protection
The Light of God surrounds me;
The Love of God enfolds me;
The Power of God protects me.
We found these prayers at Belief.net and Michelle Belanger’s new book, Ghost Hunters Guide to the Occult.
