Clairvoyance is the ability to see events and paranormal phenomena with your mind’s eye. It deals with visualizations and images. They’re not always clear: In many cases, they’re a bit fuzzy. In other cases, the images mean nothing to you, but they’re critical for someone else.
Using Clairvoyance during a Ghost Hunt
In my experience, the images I get come quickly into my mind. You need a good internal focus to help sort it out or slow down the visuals. It can seem like a movie plays in your brain!
For me, I usually get a physical sensation (clairsentience) before the images start. The hair stands up on the back of my neck or I get a chill. Then, the images start to flood my head. This is where the meditation exercise, counting breaths – from my previous post – comes in. Just relax and let the images start.
You can try a visualization exercise to help get you ready to receive clairvoyant information. It’s similar to the white light protection visualization. It works like this:
- Imagine yourself in a dark room
- Create a layer of light around your body
- Think ‘openness’ while forming the light
- Let the light get brighter and cover more of your body
- Let the light shoot up into the darkness
- Think to yourself, ‘receiving info,’ as the light heads into the darkness
To me, it means my brain is now ready for clairvoyant info. It also seems to ground me, so I don’t get carried away when the images come. On a hunt, you want to focus on receiving mental messages, so I don’t recommend running some of the equipment, like EMF meters or digital video. You need to be still. I think it works great for EVP sessions. You can remain still and ask questions about the images you receive from the spirit.
I wish I could tell you exactly how the images will form in your head. In some cases, it’s a well-formed mental image like you have a photographic memory. In other cases, it’s a symbol. We did one investigation and I kept seeing a basinet. It was a child spirit at this location. In other cases, it’s seems like an old movie plays in a loop. I’m clairaudient, so I usually get the ‘soundtrack’ to the images and movies. Jake says he gets a ‘scrolling marquee’ like a news ticker because he’s not clairaudient. The words spell themselves out in his head, but he doesn’t hear anything.
Some Words of Advice
Now, I usually don’t want to know the background of the suspected haunted site or spirit. To me, it’s a matter of credibility. I mean, this is psychic phenomena and we know the doubters are ready to pounce on you for anything that’s vague. If you don’t know about the site and you get the psychic information right, then it’s a far more credible use of your abilities. If you have the background information, then you may subconsciously use it. You’ll get shot down by the skeptics. I like to go in ‘cold’ to a hunt.
In the next post, we’ll discuss clairaudience and how the spirits will communicate with you.
