You can find djinn anywhere in the world. They may have originated in the Middle East, but they can haunt anyplace and anyone. Let’s take a closer look.
What are djinn?
Djinn are sentient supernatural creatures, which manifests as a smokeless, blistering fire, according to the Quran. They live in another dimension called the Djinnverse. Djinn have free will, so they can choose to do good, evil or show careless indifference toward people.
Djinn can be male (s. form: djinni) or female (s. form: djinniri). The term, djinn, refers to a large group. For individual djinn, use the male or female form.
Where do djinn come from?
The Quran says Allah made them from fire, while mankind came from clay. In some cases, the djinn were considered to be mortals with mankind. But, in other stories that pre-date Islam, people revered them as good and benevolent gods, per L.E. Goodwyn, a Persian history expert.
I guess it’s correct to say djinn have been active in the Middle East for a long, long time.
How do djinn manifest in a haunting?
Well, they don’t. They remain invisible in their natural form, according to Stephen Wagner, a paranormal expert at About.com. He also says you can feel their presence like an electric current. Wagner says they can manifest as a black dog or another person. If evil, they can be very tricky and clever beings. It’s hard to predict their haunting activities because it varies so much.
How does a djinni attach to a person or place?
Usually, they attach to a person. I’ve read conflicting information about attachments. Most reputable sites, like Wikipedia and DjinnUniverse.com, say every human is born with a guardian djinni, much like a guardian angel. However, you djinni doesn’t have to be nice and helpful.
In many cases, people suffer from sadness, anxiety, fear and depression may open themselves to an attack.
I didn’t find anything to say djinn will attach to a place, only people.
What are the signs of a djinn haunting?
From what I’ve read around the Web, bad luck and relationship problems with spouses, friends and co-workers are very common. I thought it was strange that nothing catches on fire, since they are similar to fire elementals.
It’s easy to confuse djinn hauntings with ghosts, fairies, demons and other supernatural beings. If the traditional clearing and protection methods fail, you could have a djinni present.
What’s the worst thing a djinni can do to you?
The worst is possession. A djinni can enter your bloodstream and take over your body and personality, per Rosemary Ellen Guilley, a paranormal expert in djinn. A djinn exorcist would clear them and that may destroy the djinni.
What are the weaknesses of djinn?
They can die of old age, but that could take centuries to happen. Djinn also fear people, according to Wagner. They are very fearful by nature and humanity can scare them off.
Guilley also states they have to stay in shadows and places of rot and squalor, like graveyards and garbage dumps. I’m speculating, but bright light could keep them away from you at night.
After researching this article, it seems that most paranormal protection used against ghosts, fairies and demons will not work against djinn.
